Supergrass swap instruments on new album
Posted on 27 Jan 2010 11:32 to category : Instruments News

Supergrass have revealed that they have been trying out different roles for the recording of the new album.
On Release the Drones, the title track on their new record, normal drummer Danny Goffey is playing bass guitar after switching roles with Mick Quinn, who will be behind the drum kit.
Lead singer Gaz Coombes told NME that instrument swapping had also taken place on the recording of a couple of other new tracks.
"This record's actually been very collaborative," said the Supergrass star.
"It's been cool to try something different and chaotic."
Even when Goffey and Quinn were back on the drums and the bass guitar as normal, Coombes revealed the band had been doing some freestyle jamming in the studio in an attempt to come up with a new sound.
An official release date has yet to be set for Release the Drones, but Coombes stated that he was hoping for the album to be available from May.
Earlier this week, Radiohead guitarist Ed O'Brien said that innovation, fun and creativity were the three things more needed in the music industry, reported the BBC.
