Summer NAMM 2016: Fender Announce '57 Custom Tweed And Bassman 800 Amps
Described as 'tone machines' - the '57 Custom Tweed series are designed to perfectly complement most genres of music from rehearsals to the stage.
“The ’57 Custom amps represent the culmination of a 12-year journey, from our highly successful ’57 reissues and Eric Clapton Signature amps to the landscape of today,” says Jim Ninesling, Vice President Fender Amplifiers and Pro Audio. “They capture the essence of the highly-collectible originals, with a few thoughtful player-centric tweaks added."
The models in the '57 Tweed Custom features the '57 CustomPro-Amp, the '57 Custom Twin-Amp, '57 Custom Deluxe and '57 Champ.
Each boast their own unique features. The '57 CustomPro-Amp is a 28-watt combo with a vintage all-tube circuit with plenty of clarity and a smooth overdrive as well as a single 15" 8-ohm speaker, Schumacher transformers and a classic tweed finish.
The Twin-Amp is a responsive 40-watt, hand-wired all-tube combo with Mercury transformers and two 12" Eminence speakers. The Custom Deluxe meanwhile is a 12-watt combo modelled on the original highly sough-after collectr's piece, a 12AY7 preamp tube and Mercury Magnetics transformers and a 12" alnico Eminence speaker.
The Champ is the smallest of the series but still packs plenty of tone. It's single 8" Weber alnico speaker powers 5-watts of hand-wired tube amp goodness. The updated Fender 5F1 circuit also gives the amp a heightened dynamic response, when pushed.
The Bassman is a powerful modern amp head for bass guitar, which its historic predecessors would be proud of. It has two versatile channels and extreme Fender tube tones via a pair of premium 12AX7 tubes. Unlike a lot of bass amplifiers, the Bassman 800 is light and weighs just 17lbs.
