Students get shiny new clarinets to play in the school orchestra
Five of the students at Central Middle School had enrolled onto the orchestra programme but had no clarinets to play with.
Speaking to the Tulsa World, Shane Jewell, executive director of OK Mozart, said: "We are honoured to be able to do this.
"This was the exact reason we created the No Child Clef Behind program - to hopefully inspire these children for a lifelong love of music."
One of the instruments was gifted by Tulsa's Saied Music Company, and the other four were sold at a discounted price.
Jewell knows a thing or two about the importance of music from an early age having strummed on a guitar from the age of nine, piano at 12 and then majoring in music theatre at college.
"This is for a lot of these kids their first opportunity to pick up an instrument and this is probably the first instrument they will ever own,” he said. “We were really glad to be able to do that," he said.
