Stuart Cable's funeral was held yesterday yesterday (21.06.10).
Thousands of fans lined the streets of Aberdare, Mid-Glamorgan, Wales to pay their respects to the former Stereophonics drummer - who died aged 40 earlier this month after an apparent drinking binge - as his black coffin was carried to St. Elvan's church.
As the cortege moved through the crowds, AC/DC's classic track `Back In Black' was played in tribute to the musician - whose coffin had the group's logo on it - as he was a big fan of the rockers.
through the streets of Aberdare, Mid-Glamorgan with their hit 'Back In Black' blaring out.
Stuart's former bandmates Kelly and Richard Jones, `Notting Hill' actor Rhys Ifans, and comedian Rob Brydon joined Stuart's family and girlfriend Rachel Jones at the service.
Kelly said: "It's hard to walk out crying when they're playing `Back In Black'. This was a celebration of Stuart's life."
A friend of the drummer, Gym Davies, paid tribute to his pal and his zest for life.
Speaking about Stuart's nine-year-old son, Cian, he said: "I'd like to think that every time he hears thunder he'll think it's his dad playing the drums and watching over him. Stuart treasured people's love and friendship so much. He appreciate the fragility of life and vowed to make the most of every minute he had. Stuart was my best friend, but he was also everyone else's best friend."
Stuart was sacked from Stereophonics in 2003 after his drinking and drugs habits became out of control.
He went on to pursue a presenting career and later formed the band Killing For Company, who were set to perform at the Download festival in Donnington Park, England days before his death.
