Stevie Wonder picks up cultural accolade in France
Posted on 8 Mar 2010 18:00 to category : Band / Celebrity News

Piano player Stevie Wonder has received a top cultural honour at a ceremony in France.
The Motown legend has been made a Commander of the Arts and Letters and was handed the award in an official ceremony by French culture minister Frederic Mitterrand.
Wonder was originally awarded the honour in 1981 but scheduling conflicts meant he had not been able to collect it for almost 30 years.
"As citizen, administrator and culture minister I just called to say we love you," Mr Mitterrand told the piano player.
Wonder had already received a lifetime achievement award at another awards show in France and said: "All this in one day, it's almost too much for me. I'm breathless."
Last month, Glastonbury Festival organiser Michael Eavis revealed that Wonder is in talks to headline the event later this year.
If he does perform, the piano playing legend will join the likes of U2 and acoustic guitar player Jack Johnson at the event.
