Stevie Ray Vaughan's Fender Stratocaster was his 'first wife'
Posted on 28 Aug 2010 09:00 to category : Band / Celebrity News

Late musician Stevie Ray Vaughan was so dedicated to his Fender Stratocaster he once described the instrument as his "first wife".
The Fender blog recalled how Vaughan had told Guitar World about picking up the electric guitar in the 1970s after being smitten with its appearance when he saw it in a shop window.
"I just had to have it - I hadn't even played it, but I knew by the way it looked it sounded great," Vaughan said.
Before his death in 1990, Vaughan worked with the musical instrument manufacturer to produce a signature Fender Stratocaster based on his model.
This features an early 1960s oval neck, three Fender Texas Special single-coil pickups and a special SRV pickguard.
Earlier this year, musician Jeff Beck also praised the Fender Stratocaster, describing his 1954 model of the instrument as one of the best electric guitars around.
He explained his was asked to design his "ultimate" guitar by another manufacturer but refused on the grounds it would be difficult to improve on his Strat.
