Steve Vai breaks guitar lesson Guinness World Record
A Guinness World Record for the largest-ever online guitar lesson has been broken by Steve Vai.
The musician hosted the event from a studio in New York City on March 3rd as part of a link-up with Boston's Berklee College of Music and the achievement has now been officially confirmed.
A total of 4,455 students from across the world participated in the lesson.
"I hope this record encourages players to continue to cultivate their own unique style and spirit on the guitar," Vai said. "I think this record really showcases the interest that exists in guitar education worldwide."
Vai is set to participate in the Experience Hendrix tour later this year, kicking off the run of shows in Las Vegas on May 20th.
Further gigs are lined up in Tuscon, Reno, Santa Cruz and Avril Beach.
A host of other top electric guitar players will be joining Vai on the tour of the west coast of the US as they play the music of Jimi Hendrix.
Others lined up to attend the performances include Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Eric Johnson, Ernie Isley and Brad Whitford from Aerosmith.
