Steve Miller reveals Les Paul's part in his success
Posted on 23 Nov 2009 15:32 to category : Band / Celebrity News

Steve Miller has revealed that the late guitarist and musical instrument designer Les Paul was an early influence on his career.
The man behind the world's first solid body guitar, the Gibson Les Paul, died earlier this year at the age of 94, prompting a succession of tributes.
Among them was last week's Les Paul Tribute Concert at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, organised by guitar maker Gibson.
The bill featured Ozzy Osbourne's guitarist Zakk Wylde and Michael Jackson's one-time guitar player Jennifer Batten, and was headlined by Miller.
It was a particularly poignant event for the man who enjoyed success with singles like The Joker and Abracadabra, as Paul was a family friend.
Miller told the audience he was just four years old when he first met the jazz guitarist and that he had helped to put him on the road to success.
"Les taught me how to hold a guitar; he taught me my first chords. He said, 'You're really going to go places, Steve,' and I believed him. I loved him very much," said Miller.
