Status Quo play in fan's back garden

A millionaire rock fan got the surprise of life at his birthday party when Status Quo turned up to perform their greatest hits.

br /> Phil Blunt booked the legendary band to entertain the 250 guests at his father David's 60th birthday in South Yorkshire.

The band - fronted by Fender Telecaster-toting Francis Rossi - played for an hour, blasting out legendary electric guitar riffs on songs such as Caroline and Whatever You Want.

"I still can't believe it really happened," Phil told the Star.

"It's not every day you can say you had Status Quo playing in your garden."

He added that the band's presence at the party was a closely guarded secret, with the stage screened off.

Francis Rossi himself turned 60 in May, while fellow Fender Telecaster player Rick Parfitt reached the milestone last year.

However, the band shows no signs of slowing down and are gearing up for an appearance at this year's Glastonbury Festival.
