Snow Patrol star hails REM guitarist

REM's electric guitar player Peter Buck has been singled out for praise by Snow Patrol's frontman Gary Lightbody.
Speaking to Q Magazine, Lightbody revealed that Buck is one of his biggest musical heroes.
This, he said, is partly because he is a very creative and innovative musician who is also very versatile.
"He can play any stringed instrument and more besides," he commented.
Lightbody has recruited Buck for his new side project called Tired Pony, which has been set up to indulge the singer's love of country music.
"I can't wait to see what he comes up with," Lightbody said.
Buck, who was a founder member of REM in 1980, has worked on various side projects over the years, including Robyn Hitchcock and the Venus 3, Hindu Love Gods and The Minus 5.
Tired Pony also includes a number of other well-known musicians in the line-up, including Richard Colburn of Belle & Sebastian on the drum kit.
