Snow Patrol and REM stars team up for country music album
Posted on 17 May 2010 19:00 to category : Band / Celebrity News

REM guitar player Peter Buck has joined forces with Snow Patrol frontman Gary Lightbody to record a country music album.
Going under the name Tired Pony, the pair's new record features contributions from the likes of Editors' Tom Smith and actress Zooey Deschanel.
Speaking to BBC 6 Music, Lightbody revealed the album had been inspired by groups that look at "darkness in America", such as Wilco and Lambchop.
"I can't get away with writing pure country music because I haven't lived that life, but I love it so much that I always wanted to try my hand at it," the Snow Patrol star stated.
Tired Pony's debut record, The Places We Ran From, is to be released on July 12th 2010.
Buck has been busy in recent months, helping The Decemberists with the recording of their sixth album.
The contribution of the electric guitar player was revealed last month following a post by the band's lead singer Colin Meloy on Twitter.
