Slipknot members face 'constant battle'
Slipknot DJ Sid Wilson says keeping the band together is a "constant battle".
The 'Surfacing' heavy metal group are set to embark on a European tour this summer - their first since losing bass player Paul Grey, who died of a drugs overdose last year - and while some members of the group have been positive about making a fifth album, Sid says there are still unresolved tensions within the band.
He told Michigan radio station Banana 101.5: "I wish I could candy-coat it and say that everything's cool and everything is gonna be great, but it's a constant battle out there.
"There's a lot of politics involved. We've been doing this thing for awhile now so there's a been a lot of changes in a lot of people. I guess it's just gonna depend on how we get along together when we're out on the road."
Percussionist Shawn Crahan and drummer Joey Jordison of the nine member group have said they are keen for the band to make another record, but singer Corey Taylor has been less positive, describing the European tour as a "baby step" in the band's comeback, and saying if it doesn't go to plan the band could be over.
Corey said: "I'm not the one who's gonna spoonfeed false hope to the fans, especially about something like this. If this tour doesn't work, this band might be over - straight up."
Slipknot's European tour starts in Greece on June 17 and runs until July 10 in England.
The band - who are using Donnie Steele as their touring bass player - are also on the bill for the Rock in Rio show in Brazil on September 25.Posted on 17 May 2011 16:15 to category : Music News
