Slipknot bassist explains appeal of Ibanez ATK
Posted on 7 May 2009 11:57 to category : Band / Celebrity News
Slipknot member Paul Gray has cited tone and versatility as two of the most appealing factors of the Ibanez ATK bass guitar.
In an interview with the music instrument manufacturer, which produces a line of Paul Gray signature basses, the musician revealed that he found plenty to like about model when one of his techs passed him an old version while on tour.
"It's such a well-rounded bass. You could play in the [Red Hot] Chili Peppers with that bass or you could play in Anthrax from back in the day," he remarked.
The instrument's large pick-up is also a big plus, with Gray claiming it offers huge lows and mids in addition to "really sharp highs".
Other parts of the bass enjoyed by Gray include the way it looks, the inlays, the marginally wider neck and the string spacing.
Mark Young of (hed) planet earth and Paul Wadby of The Eyes of a Traitor are among the prominent bassists currently playing Ibanez ATKs.
