Slipknot announce replacement for Paul Gray
Slipknot has announced original band member Donnie Steele is to replace late bass guitar player Paul Gray for their upcoming live shows in 2011.
The metal group stated they felt getting Steele back in will be a "fitting tribute" to Gray, especially because of the connection between the pair.
"Donnie was great friends with Paul and we can't think of a better way to celebrate his memory than with someone who was there with us at the very beginning," they explained in an official statement on the Slipknot website.
"The eight of us are looking forward to being onstage again and honouring Paul's legacy with our families in Europe and Brazil this summer."
Gray passed away last year after an accidental morphine overdose.
The band are lined up to play their first shows without him in the summer, making a number of festival appearances across Europe.
They will be in the UK to perform a set at the Sonisphere Festival in July, as part of a line-up that includes Limp Bizkit, Biffy Clyro, Weezer and Metallica.
Slipknot have also been booked to appear at Rock in Rio in Brazil on September 25th.
