Slipknot Hint at New Album at Download Festival
The metal band have not released any new material since 2008's All Hope Is Gone prior to the death of bassist Paul Gray.
While no LP has been forthcoming following Gray's passing, this marked the first time that they have spoken about writing new songs.
During the 110-minute headline set, front man Corey Taylor told the crowd: "Don't be surprised if you see us again real soon" later adding "look forward to special things in the future" dropping the hint of new material.
It was the first time that Slipknot had returned to Donington since Gray's death and they treated the rain-soaked fans to hits including Wait And Bleed, Before I Forget, Spit It Out and (Sic).
They were forced to stop twice during Disasterpiece to allow security to deal with the surge of fans.
Slipknot are set to play a handful of festivals in Europe in July before moving on to South America in October.
