Slash: Making music like the good old days
His second studio album has been described by the musician as being less about production and more about wanting to capture the essence of a live sound.
To achieve this, where possible, he will be looking to record most tracks in one take.
Speaking to Total Guitar, the axeman said: "This has been the most fun I have had since the earliest Guns N' Roses days.
"I have definitely found a certain freedom to be able to feel comfortable expressing myself with the guys that I'm working with, and just being able to focus on what it is that I like to focus on."
His second album will see him work again with Myles Kennedy on vocals and Eric Valentine helping produce.
Slash is seen as one of the greatest electric guitarists of all time, with Time naming him runner up in their 10 Best Electric Guitar players list in 2009.
