Sir Paul McCartney named among richest British musicians
Electric guitar player Sir Paul McCartney has been named as one of the richest musicians living in the UK.
The Beatles star came fifth in the Sunday Times Rich List of music millionaires, behind the likes of Lord Andrew Lloyd-Webber and Edgar Bronfman, the chairman of Warner Brothers Music.
McCartney is estimated to have a fortune of £475 million, ahead of fellow stars such as Sir Mick Jagger (£190 million), Sting (£180 million) and Eric Clapton (£125 million).
His Beatles bandmate Ringo Starr is in joint 15th place with Sir Tim Rice on £140 million.
The list for musicians aged 30 and under is topped jointly by Charlotte Church, Leona Lewis and Katherine Jenkins on £11 million, with acoustic guitar players Jamie Cullum and Paolo Nutini also featuring in the top 20.
Later this year, McCartney is set to play a series of live shows around the UK, with shows scheduled for Hampden Park in Glasgow and the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, as well as a headline slot at the Isle of Wight Festival.Posted on 25 Apr 2010 09:00 to category : Band / Celebrity News
