Simon Cowell likes the ones and twos

Simon Cowell is to produce a TV talent show based on DJing.
Believes in a DJ TV talent show
Simon Cowell is branching out into the world of DJing after announcing he has been busy masterminding a new TV talent show over the last 12 months.

The music mogul put out a statement saying that he and his team have developed a new show that aims to find the best bedroom and underground DJs and test their skills on a show similar to X Factor.

The untitled show is being co-produced by his media company SyCo and Will Smith's group Overbrook. The Smith connection is said to be especially important for Cowell as it lends the show real credibility.

After all, Smith, though concentrating on the world of acting, first came to fame through music as a rapper.

"We have been working on this show for over a year and we wanted to partner with the right people," Cowell stated.

"As soon as I met Jada and Miguel from Overbrook, I knew they would be our ideal partners. DJs are the new rockstars; it feels like the right time to make this show."

It is a response to the re-emergence of the art of DJing, which has been overshadowed by the dominance of indie and rock music in recent years.
