Signed Madchester guitar fetches £6,600 at auction
Members from the likes of The Stone Roses, Oasis and Buzzcocks which were the cornerstone of Manchester's iconic music culture were among the signatures on the instrument which was listed on auction site eBay, the BBC reports.
The guitar was finally sold for £6,600 with all the proceeds going to help Clare House's Children Hospital in Wirral as well as Manchester's Francis Hall provide the best possible treatment for youngsters.
Adam Masters, the person behind the plans, came up with the idea after his friend's daughter, who was the same age as his own child, died.
Mr Masters told the news provider: "It really hit home and made me take stock and made me want to do something for charity. I thought I could use my contacts in the music business to do some good."
Manchester was famous for its 'Madchester' music scene which gave birth to whole host of bands between the late 1980s and throughout the 1990s. Many of the groups have gone to be household names including the likes of James, Happy Mondays and New Order.
