Shop tells piano players to stop playing Adele hit

Adele's Someone Like You is banned in one music shop.
Great deals on musical instruments
Adele's hit Someone Like You is a popular choice for amateur piano players, so much so that one music shop has had to ask people to stop playing it on the keyboards and pianos on display.

A sign in the Dublin-based shop now reads: "Strictly NO Adele", after poor staff were forced to hear one too many bad renditions of the famed track.

"It's become the piano equivalent of Stairway to Heaven. Everyone thinks they can play it," Warren, a shop assistant, told the Independent.

"The sign was a bit of a joke, but the song can drive you mad."

And it's not just Adele who has made it onto the store's banned list, as Michael Nyman's soundtrack to The Piano is prohibited, as is Beethoven's Fur Elise.

Traditionally, it is guitar showrooms where certain tracks are banned, with Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven and Smoke on the Water by Deep Purple among the songs which are overplayed when testing out the musical instruments.

Someone Like You, which is featured on Adele's chart-topping album 21, has proved to be a huge hit both in the UK and in the US.

It returned to the US Billboard number one spot earlier this month following the songstress's performance on the MTV Music Video Awards.

The track has also reached the coveted number one spot in Australia, Ireland, New Zealand.
