Sheffield youngsters looking for musical instruments
Posted on 14 Feb 2012 10:12 to category : Instruments News

The aspiring musicians, who jam at Star Studios in the city centre, urgently need new equipment – portable if possible – and are appealing to those who may have quit playing musical instruments, the Star reported.
They are after electric guitars, acoustic guitars, bass guitars, flutes and keyboards, to name but a few, which will be put to good use empowering young people with learning difficulties.
"Funding is getting ever tighter and the numbers of people we work with ever greater," Julia McNally, development manager at studio operator The Musical Works, told the news provider.
"Our children and adults are so enthusiastic about learning to play instruments, jamming together and songwriting, but, with our limited equipment and funding, we often find they are waiting for instruments to become available."
She added that she thought it was a great idea that youngsters were putting out a call to the city of Sheffield for their unwanted and unused instruments – they can be put to good use.
Last month it was revealed that an after school music project in LA is using hip-hop to keep young people out of trouble.
