Schoolchildren to perform with London Philharmonic Orchestra
Posted on 7 Oct 2010 19:26 to category : Instruments News

More than 1,000 primary schoolchildren are to be offered the chance to pick up a musical instrument and perform with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
The opportunity is to come about as part of the Music Education Fund scheme being launched by Mayor of London Boris Johnson.
As part of the initiative, young pupils from Hounslow and Kingston will be given tuition by the world famous orchestra, as well as playing instruments alongside them, reports the London Evening Standard.
Musicians from the orchestra will also help youngsters from other areas of the capital to write and perform their own music in venues such as the Royal Albert Hall and Wembley Arena.
The BBC Concert Orchestra, the London Mozart Players and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment have also signed up to help with the scheme.
Last month, education secretary Michael Gove announced an independent review is to look into how more children can be given access to musical instruments inside and outside of school.
