Scheme That Grants 2.8m to Up and Coming Artists Soon to be Relaunched
In accordance with reports from Music Week, the Department for International Trade and BPI have reinvigorated the initiative and pumped over £2.8 million into its varying avenues.
The MEGS campaign has been relaunched after the success of Young Fathers and Catfish and the Bottlemen, whom MEGS distributed roughly £1.6 m in grants between January 2014-March 2016.
Supporting independent music companies, record labels, distributors and management companies MEGS aim to export a wealth of musicians and music institutions to an overseas market. The companies that will be eligible for inclusion in the campaign will be those that are considered a small or medium size. These companies will potentially be able to receive anywhere from £5,000 to £50,000 in order to fund their ventures. Funding is available until 2020 and with nominations open today. The deadline for initial applications is November the 7th with forms available for applicants on the BPI website.
