Sammy Hagar: I'm a Gibson kind of guy
The rock musician, who is currently fronting supergroup Chickenfoot, said he used to play Les Pauls and Gibson SGs on a regular basis.
Speaking to the Gibson website, he noted that one of his Les Pauls is currently used for lap slide on the track Bad Motor Scooter.
"That's just one of the meanest-sounding guitars ever," he commented.
"I'm just a Gibson kind of guy."
Hagar went on to cite Dick Dale as an early influence on his electric guitar playing, as well as Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix and Peter Green.
He added that he hopes to continue working with Chickenfoot for some time, although he acknowledged that the band members' individual commitments could affect the timing of their next record.
The band, which released their self-titled LP earlier this year, consists of Hagar alongside Joe Satriani on electric guitar, Michael Anthony on bass guitar and Chad Smith on drums.Posted on 16 Sep 2009 18:00 to category : Instruments News
