Rush's Future Remains Ambiguous
The band have left fans with baited sighs of relief this week as guitarist Alex Lifeson, stated that he is " Sure the band will do something in the future ". This statement came after Lifeson and front man Geddy Lee visited Toronto to receive a ceremonial key to the city as well as have a park in Willowdale named after them.
Discussing what the future held for the trio with Canadian radio and TV personality George Stroumboulopoulos, Lee stated that they had "probably" played their last tour the previous year. Guitarist, Lifeson however, then supplemented Lee's comment with "We've been following up on some other interests that we both have and we've been learning to get used to the idea." He then went on to say " We can't just stop playing and writing music together."
Such speculation has naturally set the musical world alight following drummer Neil Pearts remarks in December of 2015 which he identified himself as a "retired drummer" and that " Like all athletes, there comes a time to take yourself out of the game."
Whilst the band don't currently have any plans for the year ahead, it is seeming more and more likely that the band are going to return in some capacity somewhere along the line.
