Royal wedding composer 'proud to be involved'

Royal wedding composer 'excited' for the big day.
Great deals on musical instruments

The composer who created one of the pieces to be played at today's royal wedding has said he is proud to be involved.

Dr Paul Mealor told the Herald Scotland that it will be “the most emotional intense and exhilarating hour” of his life when he sees his piece being played on musical instruments in Westminster Abbey.

“I was thrilled to hear that HRH Prince William of Wales had chosen my music for his wedding. How humbling it is for me to know that Prince William and Catherine will celebrate the beginning of their lives together with my music," he added.

The piece will be performed by the Choir of Westminster Abbey and the Choir of Her Majesty’s Chapel Royal, St James’s Palace.

Dr Mealor teaches at the University of Aberdeen.

Earlier this week, Christopher Warren-Green, the London Chamber Orchestra's music director, told People magazine that William and Kate had thought long and hard about the music and wanted it to be a surprise on the day.

He added that both of their parents had also had a hand it choosing which music would be played during the ceremony and at the reception.
