Posted on 13 May 2010 18:30 to category : Band / Celebrity News

An event designed to promote the talent of up-and-coming musicians has been held in London.
The Roots and Flutes event, which was sponsored by musical instrument manufacturer Gibson, took place in the O2 Arena as part of the City Showcase event.
Artists using instruments ranging from violins and pianos to electric guitars played live as part of the series of concerts, with the acts including the Raven Quartet, Lokandes and Red Cable Sunday.
While the City Showcase is now into its seventh year, with performers who have played the event in the past including Amy Winehouse, Newton Faulkner, Razorlight and Keane, this was the inaugural Roots and Flutes show.
According to its organisers, the aim of the event was to highlight the "diversity and heritage" of London's music scene.
Other acts who played as part of Roots and Flutes included Sam Cave, The Guzheng Ensemble, the Presti Guitar Duo and Triumph Bass.
