Roger Waters will build The Wall alone
Posted on 27 May 2010 16:30 to category : Band / Celebrity News

Roger Waters says no other members of Pink Floyd will be joining him when performs 'The Wall'.
The former bassist of the psychedelic rock band is bringing the epic live show - in which the concept album is performed in its entirety while a physical wall is built between the band and the audience - back to life to celebrate the LP's 30th anniversary, but without the help of guitarist David Gilmour or drummer Nick Mason.
Referring to the band's last appearance together at the Live 8 charity concert in London in 2005, he said: "I think Live 8 was probably it. And Live 8 was so beautiful, and Rick obviously was still with us then. It was an extraordinarily moving experience for me, and if that's the way we draw a line under Pink Floyd, so be it. I won't be unhappy about that."
Pink Floyd keyboard player Rick Wright passed away from cancer in September 2008 aged 65.
Waters also revealed he had been approached by Hank Steinbrenner, co-owner of New York's Yankees Stadium, to reform the band to perform 'The Wall', but Gilmour didn't want to do it.
He revealed: "I said, 'Well, I don't think David wants to do anything again, and certainly not this.'
"He said, 'Well, will you ask him?' So I did, and he said no. Which I knew he would and there's no reason why he wouldn't say no."
But Waters, 66, will not rule out working with the rest of Pink Floyd in the future.
He said: "However, if the others wanted to do something at some point, I'm always open to suggestions. So far, there haven't been any."
Waters announced his 28-date UK and European 'The Wall Live' tour
at a press conference in London today (27.05.10).
He has revealed the production will feature a 240 ft projection onto the wall when it is built in front of the crowd. The album's illustrator Gerald Scarfe is also going to be producing several new images for the shows.
Tickets go on sale from 9am on June 4 from www.livenation.co.uk.
The US and Canadian dates take place between September and December this year.
