Roger Daltrey: Lack of lead singers

The Who's Roger Daltrey claims the music business lacks lead singers with the exception being Adele.
Great deals on musical instruments
The Who's Roger Daltrey, who knows a thing or two about booming out quality vocals through a microphone, claims there is a decided lack of talented lead singers in today's music industry.

Daltrey, who is the founder and lead singer of the massive English rock band, said today's crop of singers don't compare to people like The Rolling Stones' Mick Jagger, Rod Stewart and Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder.

The singer-songwriter told the Press Association: "A lot of the new people they choose on shows like American Idol and things like that - I don't ever hear lead singers. They always seem to choose to pick people that are great singers, fabulous singers, but they've never got the voice that makes a great lead singer."

However, he did say there was an exceptional to his analysis of the current state of music – Adele.

He told the news provider that Adele was "the real deal", a compliment that only adds to the unprecedented success that has come her way this year.

But it hasn't all been plain sailing for the British soul singer, as she has had to cancel her US tour because of persistent vocal problems.
