Rock Band 'doesn't teach kids to play music', says Dave Grohl
Posted on 11 Nov 2009 10:35 to category : Instruments News

Dave Grohl has urged aspiring musicians to play a real electric guitar instead of video games such as Rock Band.
The Foo Fighters have just released two tracks from their new Greatest Hits collection on Rock Band and Grohl himself has stated that he likes the game.
However, he said this does not mean it should be seen as a way of teaching children to play musical instruments.
"It's a video game," Grohl told MTV.
"If you want to learn how to play guitar, pick up a guitar."
Grohl added that one of the best things about Rock Band is that it allows children to be exposed to music they may not otherwise get to hear.
For example, he stated that the recent Beatles video game has opened up the Fab Four to youngsters who would not have discovered them any other way.
"It's important for everyone to know about the Beatles," Grohl said.
This comes after former Rolling Stone Bill Wyman told BBC News he believes games such as Rock Band are stopping children from learning real musical instruments.
