Robert Plant donates signed acoustic guitar to local charity
The Led Zeppelin frontman lives close to the Worcester and District branch of the Parkinson's Disease Society (PDS), which is hosting a fundraising dinner this week.
This will include a charity auction in which it is hoped that Plant's acoustic guitar will fetch a sum of about £700.
Robin Hancock, chairman of the area's PDS branch, said the organisation depends on charitable giving to help it offer support to people with Parkinson's Disease.
He commented: "We are incredibly grateful to have such a well-known local legend like Robert Plant donate such a unique prize to our cause."
Mr Hancock added that he secured a contribution from the rock musician after bumping into him in the local village shop.
Plant, who is best known for songs such as Rock and Roll, Stairway to Heaven and Kashmir, signed the guitar at Mr Hancock's house, where his wife took photos to prove its authenticity.Posted on 19 Jun 2009 10:34 to category : Instruments News
