Ringo Starr 'doesn't practise the drums'
Posted on 13 Jan 2010 11:58 to category : Instruments News

Ringo Starr has revealed that he never plays the drum kit unless other musicians are in the room with him.
The former Beatles drummer said he does not practise the instrument because he does not believe there is any fun in playing the drum kit on his own.
Speaking to USA Today, he said: "I need melody.
"I need to bounce off a bass player, a guitarist, the piano player."
Starr, who turns 70 later this year, said he also prefers playing the drum kit without a big glass screen separating him from the rest of the band.
This, he stated, allows the musicians to "feel that emotion off each other" that you cannot otherwise generate in a recording studio.
The music legend, whose solo hits include It Don't Come Easy, Back Off Boogaloo and You're Sixteen, is currently gearing up to release new solo album Y Not.
Starr's former bandmate Sir Paul McCartney is among the contributors, adding his unique bass guitar playing to two tracks.
