Richard Hawley's drinking songs
Posted on 22 Sep 2010 07:00 to category : Music News

Richard Hawley is planning to write a whole album devoted to whisky.
The guitarist and songwriter is to produce the album inspired by the art of whisky making at a Scottish distillery in Dufftown, Scotland, which he recently visited, where the brand Glenfiddich hails from.
The distillery has little changed since 1886 when it was founded and built by entrepreneur William Grant and his nine children.
'As the Dawn Breaks' singer Richard said: "I'm passionate about this country's traditional, authentic history and the time spent in Scotland, learning about Glenfiddich's pioneering approach to whisky making and talking to people who have worked there for years and years, has given me some wonderful ideas for some new songs."
Richard will write his songs based on the whisky process and later perform them at a specially organised concert later this year. They will also be released as limited edition downloads through the Glenfiddich website.
Jamie Milne, a spokesperson for the whisky said: "Richard writes beautiful lyrics; wry, human observations of amazing places and passionate people - the breath-taking scenery around Dufftown and amazing characters who work at the distillery should provide plenty of inspiration."
