Richard Gere's vintage guitars go under the hammer
The Hollywood actor has amassed over 100 vintage guitars and contemporary pieces over an extended period of time, and it includes some real treats music aficionados will go potty over.
This includes a range of Fender Amps that come with lap steel guitars and a Fender Stratocaster dating from 1954, estimated to fetch a cool $30,000 to $40,000 (approximately Â£19,155 and Â£25,540 respectively).
Kerry Keane, the director of musical instruments at Christie's, told the Seattle Times: "He suddenly realised he had a great collection that's pretty encyclopaedic of American guitar-making.
"They were everywhere. He's got a beautiful music room overlooking a lake. There's a huge Steinway in there. When I walked in, you had to walk over guitars. They were on Stickley settees, on stands."
In a recent interview with Guitar Aficionado, Gere revealed that the money raised from the auction would be invested in charitable projects across the world.
