Revolver named best Beatles album
The website attributed the result partly to John Lennon's electric guitar work on tracks such as She Said She Said and Dr Robert.
This, it stated, made the LP a much more rocking effort than their previous record Rubber Soul, which contained more folk-influenced acoustic guitar-based tracks.
Revolver secured nearly a quarter of the public vote, ahead of other Beatles classics such as Abbey Road and their self-titled 1968 double album.
MusicRadar also praised bass guitar player Paul McCartney's work on the LP, as songs such as For No One, Here, There and Everywhere and Eleanor Rigby showed him "firing on all glorious cylinders".
McCartney also plays lead guitar on opening track Taxman, which was described as George Harrison's "first real venture to the fore".
Revolver saw the electric guitar player get three songs on a Beatles album for the first time, with Love You To and I Want To Tell You also making it onto the record.Posted on 10 Sep 2009 14:00 to category : Band / Celebrity News
