Razorlight frontman: I'm having fun again
Johnny Borrell has revealed that he is having the time of his life with his new Razorlight line-up because they're his friends.
Borrell, who plays the electric guitar, was speaking after a rollercoaster 22 months which first saw drum player Andy Burrows leave, and then, this January, the twin exodus of bass guitar player Carl Dalemo and guitar player Bjorn Agren.
Speaking to the News of the World, the Razorlight frontman said he recruited pals Freddy Stitz on bass and Gus Robertson on guitar to join him and David Kaplan on drums.
He said he had forgotten how much fun it was to be making music and hanging around with friends.
He told the newspaper: "Honestly, I never knew how much of a laugh it could be to be in a band, even down to seeing who could grow the best moustache."
The band are currently working on material for their new album, which in so many ways could be a debut album given Borrell is the only original member. Borrell even thought about changing the name but decided against it. He now wants the new band to live up to the name.
Razorlight first came together in 2002. Two years later their debut Up All Night brought them to the attention of the indie scene and in 2005 they performed at the LIVE 8 event.
