Rare violin rakes in over £3,000 at auction
The instrument was created by Aristide Cavalli in 1923 and went under the hammer as part of the castle's Winter Fine Art and Antiques Sale, attracting a large amount of interest from bidders all over the UK, The Northern Echo reports.
It was eventually sold to a telephone bidder within the British Isles with a final bid of £3,200 and goes alongside a number of famous instruments that have recently gone up for auction of late.
Richard Edwards, senior auctioneer and valuer at Addisons, told the newspaper: "We have been getting a lot of quality musical instruments in recent sales and they are reaching very good prices."
A guitar signed by The Killers, Jimi Hendrix's famous Fender Stratocaster and the piano from Casablanca have all recently gone under the hammer with collectors trying to get the latest bit of music memorabilia.
The Casablanca piano sold for a massive $600,000 (£370,000) at the Sotheby's auction in New York to an unnamed bidder.
