Rare Pink Floyd clip uncovered
Posted on 3 Dec 2009 13:30 to category : Band / Celebrity News

Footage of Pink Floyd's original electric guitar player Syd Barrett performing with the band has just been uncovered.
In the 1960s and 1970s, the BBC destroyed copies of many notable TV shows, including Doctor Who and Dad's Army, which means many episodes no longer exist.
Top of the Pops was also affected by the cull, although a one-inch reel-to-reel tape of Pink Floyd appearing on the show in 1967 has now come to light.
The clip was found in a private collection and although damaged, it does show Pink Floyd performing See Emily Play with original guitarist Syd Barrett.
Steve Bryant, senior curator at the British Film Institute, believes this is an "enormously significant" discovery.
"Footage of Pink Floyd from this era is extremely rare," he commented.
Barrett, who died in 2006, left Pink Floyd in 1968, although the group went on to have further success with albums such as Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here.
