Ralph McTell praises Gibson J45
According to the singer-songwriter, the J45 has "something extra" in the sound that he particularly likes.
Speaking to the Liverpool Daily Post, McTell noted that the acoustic guitar has a slightly shorter scale length, which means the frets are closer together.
This, he said, means his hand is able to fit the Gibson J45 better than most other instruments.
McTell added that his first introduction to music came when he was given a plastic harmonica one Christmas.
He later purchased a real mouth organ, before progressing to the fiddle, ukulele and then the acoustic guitar.
McTell is best known for his hit single Streets of London, which hit the charts in 1974 and has since been covered by artists including Sinead O'Connor, Blackmore's Night and Cliff Richard.Posted on 14 Nov 2009 10:00 to category : Instruments News
