Radio 2 fans given heads-up on summer slot
Jon Homes is the man who will take-on that job, according to a BBC statement. He'll be known to music instrument fans who already enjoy the Saturday morning line-up on Radio 6 Music.
"Think of me as the summer supply teacher for Mr Norton's class, which means, like any supply teacher, I won't have a clue where you're up to with your reading and literacy, so instead we'll just mess about and play games," Homes has quipped.
One thing that is planned for his tenure is a feature wherein listeners will have to name a melody that has been performed using a glockenspiel by a toddler. It has been given the humorous title Toddler Pops.
Meanwhile, fresh music stars will get to perform live as part of His Busker's Voice.
Radio 2 listeners tuning in on July 21st will be able to hear Homes take-on this new role.
The BBC recently announced that the BBC Concert Orchestra had been involved in fresh jingles to be used on Radio 2.
