Queens of the Stone Age 'to begin recording next album'

Queens of the Stone Age are set to begin work on a new album next month, guitarist and keyboard player Dean Fertita has revealed.

Speaking to Billboard magazine, the musician - who is also a member of Jack White's band The Dead Weather - said his current "number one priority" is getting back into the studio with the rest of the Queens of the Stone Age.

He said the group are feeling excited about the possibilities for the next record, with plenty of ideas already on the table.

"It's very much still [Josh Homme's] band, but I think all of us really feel like we've found our space in it and can contribute to it as well," Fertita explained.

The keyboard player added that he is less clear about the future of The Dead Weather, chiefly because the band do not plan ahead and are happy to make music when time permits.

Queens of the Stone Age played a number of festival shows in Europe earlier this year, appearing in Germany, France and Holland along the way.

They also played at the Reading and Leeds festivals in the final weekend of August.
