Queen's Roger Taylor to re-release Dear Mr Murdoch
Showing a certain aptitude for foresight, Queen's drummer Roger Taylor is to re-release his 1994 protest song about the media mogul Rupert Murdoch.
Taylor's song Dear Mr Murdoch has had a slight update, which is only natural given the massive fallout following disturbing revelations about the phone hacking crisis.
Full of witty derisions, Taylor doesn't hold back on attacking Murdoch, calling him "the pits" and blaming him for stoking up hatred in people as well as "blunting" people's awareness of what is going on in the world.
Summing up his overriding sentiments towards the News International founder, Taylor finishes the song with the following lyrics: "And dear Mr Murdoch what have you done? You're not quite as nice as Attila the Hun."
The song will be available on iTunes and is already seen as a hot contender for the number one spot given the publicity surrounding Murdoch.
Yesterday, Murdoch faced the Commons media committee to answer questions about the hacking scandal that led to the closure of the News of the World.
The proceedings were temporarily halted after a member of the public attacked the publisher with a foam pie.
