Prince reveals that he doesn't like digital music
Prince has revealed that he is not a fan of the internet and digital music.
The 53-year-old musician has lost none of his ability to shock as he told the Guardian that music software used to compress songs into digital files had led to reduction in quality.
Last year, as he prepared to release his album 20Ten as a hard copy alone, he made the audacious claim that the internet was over.
He said: "I personally can't stand digital music. You're getting sound in bits. It affects a different place in your brain. When you play it back, you can't feel anything. We're analogue people, not digital."
His comments are bound to send shockwaves in the music industry, which has suffered badly in the digital age.
Although the quality of CDs is far superior to MP3s, digital music is now the preferred medium for people to listen to music.
He said that he is set to visit the White House to discuss issues surrounding the internet and copyright.
Described the internet as being a place without boundaries, he said that it was "like a gold rush out there".
Although Prince has had various websites in the past, at present he is one of the few music superstars to have no official presence on the web.
