Pixies honour rescued miners at Chilean gig
Pixies took to the stage earlier this week with their electric guitars to honour the trapped miners rescued in Chile.
The American rock band played a gig at the Teatro Le La Cupula in Chile's capital Santiago on Tuesday (October 13th 2010), with a song being performed for each of the 33 miners.
Frontman Black Francis said that the band chose to play the gig as they were "moved" by the story of the men trapped more than 2,000 feet underground for 69 days.
He said in a statement: "We wanted to do something to show how affected we were by this."
The group played some of their most famous songs, including Debaser, Here Comes Your Man and Where Is My Mind.
Francis and the other members of the band played in Chile as part of their tour of the Americas, which will see the group travel to Mexico later this week.
