Pink Floyd re-sign with EMI

Pink Floyd have signed a new record deal with EMI, just weeks after winning a long-running court battle against them.
Great deals on musical instruments

Pink Floyd have signed a new record deal with EMI.

The English psychedelic rock group re-signed, despite recently settling a huge legal dispute with the label about how their music should be distributed, winning a high court ruling stopping EMI from selling songs from their albums individually, including as MP3 downloads or ringtones.

Despite this and previous reports of outstanding royalties owed to the band - which is currently inactive, but who's back catalogue still sells strongly - the 'Money' rockers have signed a new five-year deal with the company they have worked with since 1967.

An EMI source said: "All legal disputes between the band and the company have been settled as a result of this new deal."

EMI chief executive Roger Faxon added: "I know I speak for everyone at EMI when I say that it is a privilege to have the opportunity to work with them."

Meanwhile the band's former bassist, Roger Waters, has announced plans to release a live DVD version of his 'The Wall Live' show - where he recreates the band's classic 1979 album.

Although no official confirmation has been made, the singer released a statement saying he will be filming the London shows in the series, set for May.

The statement said: "Roger Waters will be filming and recording all six shows at The O2 in London. For these shows, photographs are permitted but we must insist on NO Flash photography.

"Any person who uses Flash will have their camera confiscated and could be removed from the Arena."
