Years of classical piano lessons have helped a headlining Dutch DJ and producer with his improvisational skills.
Laidback Luke, a native of Holland, told Las Vegas Weekly that "music is no mystery" thanks to his years of study.
He explained his detailed understanding of music allows him to combine bass lines and chords with melodies, which he claims he comes up with "really quickly".
The European producer added that he began piano lessons at the same time he started producing.
"Now I can really make any type of music and melodies and harmonies I would like," he said.
Laidback Luke, who was born in the Philippines but raised in the Netherlands, is set to appear at Body English in Las Vegas on April 22nd.
He was voted as number 46 in DJ magazine's Top 100 DJs poll and released a total of five tracks and 18 remixes in 2008.
Last year, he claims to have spun nearly 200 DJ sets.
