Piano from Casablanca put up for auction
The instrument featured in a flashback scene during the Oscar-winning film where Rick Blaine, played by Humphrey Bogart, and Ilsa Lund (Ingrid Bergman) first establish their romance in Paris.
The pianist, Sam, plays the classic track As Time Goes By on the instrument as it represents one of the defining moments from the 1943 film which is one of the most iconic movies ever.
Marking the 70th anniversary of the film, the piano will go under the hammer at Sotheby's on December 14th and is estimated to fetch around £1.2 million when it is sold to the highest bidder.
It is the second time that the piano has been put up for auction after a Japanese collector purchased the instrument from auctioneer David Redden in 1988 for $154,000 (£95,500) and it is set to be put back on sale later in the month.
In 1944, Casablanca was awarded the Oscar for Best Director (Michael Curtiz), Best Picture and Best Writing, Screenplay.
