A Northamptonshire musician is set to embark on an extraordinary challenge to help raise money for charity.

James Major, from Yarwell, will play the piano for 12 hours straight at the village hall in a bid to generate funds for traumatised forces personnel.

The pianoathon will get underway at 08:00 BST on May 18th and will be completed with the accompaniment of the Warrington Just Friends choir who will join Mr Major from 19:30 BST , marking the start of an evening of entertainment.

“I hope to be joined by lots of musicians and singers and will play with them, totally unrehearsed. The object is simply to keep me going," Mr Major added.

This innovative task is aimed at at raising money for Combat Stress. The charity helps veterans that leave the armed forces with psychological problems that could lead to depression, anxiety or post traumatic stress disorder.

It works with these ex-servicemen to ensure that they get the support they need to overcome their problems since leaving the front line.
