Peter Hook to open new music club in Manchester
Posted on 14 Jan 2010 13:00 to category : Music News

Bass guitar player Peter Hook has revealed he is opening a brand new music club in Manchester.
The music veteran, who made his name in Joy Division, is closely associated with the city's legendary Factory Records label, which was founded by the late Tony Wilson and Alan Erasmus.
Although the label collapsed in the early 1990s, its name has endured thanks to its roster of acts including Joy Division, New Order and the Happy Mondays, as well as the famous Hacienda club.
Speaking to BBC 6 Music, Hook admitted that the people behind the Hacienda were "rubbish" at business, but said he wants to retain some of the ethos behind the iconic venue.
"The idea is to put a good old-fashioned venue, where music is the key, and give them a chance to grow," he said.
Hook, who will open the venue with a live performance on January 29th, added that he believes the new venture will make money, as he is working with a "great" businessman.
