Percussionists bang for charity
Drummers up and down the US have been urged to make their way to the Twin Cities of Minneapolis-Saint Paul, Minnesota, to raise awareness of the fact that millions of people around the world are suffering from hunger.
There are believed to be approximately 925 million starving and/or malnourished people struggling to get by day-to-day in the world.
Marv Dahlgren, a renowned percussionist from the area, is one of the instrumentalists who will be banging away for charity.
"We're trying to raise awareness," Mr Dahlgren told the Twin Cities Daily Planet.
"I just sit at the phone every day and call drummers."
It is estimated that around 5,000 people will attend the event.
One notable group making its way to Minnesota is the Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps.
Hunger is defined as the want for scarcity of food; a strong desire or craving; and the uneasy painful sensation caused by needing food.
